UVME (you verses me) the pre-launch of an online skill games business.
It was six o’clock in the morning on Sunday 15th July the skies were black and heavy with thunder. I got into my car my mission was to travel from my home in Cornwall in the south west tip of the U.K. to Cheltenham in Gloucester some 200 miles east.
I was going to a conference for a brand new business that was in its intfantsy that’s what it said on the ticket that was given to me by my friend and fellow Evo member Gavin. Sounds exciting it would have to be, to get me out of bed this time on a Sunday morning.
All the way to the venue there was heavy driving rain and even lightening at one point. Quite bizarre. Well at least I got there in one piece and just at the right time too because the spaces for cars was getting a bit thin on the ground.
As I got into the reception area there were hundreds of people in front of me “wow” this is more popular than I thought, I’m never going to find Gavin in this sea of people, I’ll give him a ring on his mobile. Well we got together just in time to be shepherded in to the auditorium where we were to witness the birth of a new business.
All of a sudden it all went dark. It’s about to start then back came the screens amidst a concofiney of background music and there were the words EVO standing 10 feet tall and emblazoned in red. After the music dyed down the word EVO just faded away and on the stage come a guy called Mike who I recognised from the telly he was our compare for the day. He started talking to the audience and warming us up for the cameras for the whole thing is being filmed. It was then that I discovered where everybody came from. He shouted stand up who has travelled more than fifty miles to be with us today, most people stood up, and has he reamed up the miles he eventually got to three thousand miles, and there was still at least a hundred standing from the two thousand strong audience. Well it turns out that there were about three from Australia who where there just for the pre-launch also at least ten from the US and Canada and for some reason there where about twenty sitting all together from Malta.
Truly a global audience.
After that it was “show time” during the course of the day we were introduced to a number of people, each telling us there part in the business. It was very exciting.
Then it came to the head of marketing, we were about to be told what the new business was to be called. He told us his reasoning behind the name and how it took a long time to come up with it. How could anything that simple take that long in the making, but it was good. The whole idea of the name is, somebody (you), taking on (verses), (me) UVME it is. Online skill gaming. (you verses me) hmmm kind of catchy, and it fits the type of business
One of the most striking things of the day was when Don Falia who is the internet Guru of marketing got up on stage an told us his “spin” on UVME and then he says this is the best multi level marketing business that he has ever seen in his forty years of marketing. Well that was good enough for me. After every thing I have witnessed today, the crowds, the atmosphere, the electricity,( in and out of the building) I made my mind up I was going to do everything I could, to build my own online skill gaming business up and spread the word as much as I could.
